Of course, it is possible to find a marine or yacht surveyor on your own. There are listings on the Internet, and some other brokerage sites might have links to surveyors. Going it alone, however, can be risky as there is no standard requirement for becoming a surveyor. A good rule of thumb is to look for surveyors who are members of well-known associations, or who have certifiable accreditation.
