Strong Yachts are semi-custom and custom-built cruising sailboats made of either aluminum or steel. These rugged boats can be built from our existing design plans, from variations of these plans modified to suit you, or from an entirely new design created to meet your personal requirements. After all, a truly extraordinary cruising boat is as unique and individualistic as her owner.
One of the great advantages of metal boat construction is the ease with which a knowledgeable builder can change things to suit the customer. Do you require less draft, or more? Fewer bunks, a larger galley, a split rig or a completely different deck configuration? Our naval architects will work with you to modify and detail your Strong Yacht until she is as you want her to be, and then the yard will build her that way. In the end you will have exactly the boat you want rather than something somebody else wanted to sell you.
Features common to all Strong Yachts include exceptional strength, safety, comfort, seaworthiness and a proper shipwright's finish. Our standard, hand-crafted interiors feature either a warm natural wood interior or a traditional Herreshoff-style decor. Alternatively, you're welcome to specify an entirely customized accommodation built to virtually any style or standard you wish. We have the design team and the craftsmen to do it.
Left to ourselves, we strive to avoid the overdone, glitzy yacht finish common to most of today's boat show boats, preferring substance to sizzle.
